The KLR650’s 652 cc four-valve single produces a flat power curve that lets you navigate trails and cruise at freeway speeds effortlessly. From 2022 onwards, the engine features updates for increased durability that ensure the reliability expected of an adventure tourer. Stronger mid-range focused performance and increased generator capacity meet the needs of riders heading out for an adventure.

Based on the high-tensile steel, semi-double cradle frame that has established a great level of trust from the market over the past 30 years, an integrated rear frame and a long swingarm contribute to composed handling at highway speeds, with and without luggage.
Fine-tuned riding position is relaxed, facilitating long hours in the saddle. Rubber-mounted handlebar and footpegs, and rubber dampers under the seat help to manage vibrations for great ride comfort. A tall windscreen with two-position adjustability offers excellent wind protection.
The 41 mm front fork last featured an upgrade in 2014, which at the time received stiffer springs, increased oil height and revised damping settings (for stronger rebound damping). Set-up to better suit on-road riding situations and heavier loads. The rear suspension features a Uni-Trak single-shock setup, with adjustable rebound damping and spring preload.
Thanks to a massive 23-litre fuel tank, the KLR650 has the range to suit it’s rugged looks. The fuel-injection system helps to improve fuel efficiency, maximising the range available for both on-road and off-road adventures.
The KLR’s sophisticated liquid cooling system employs an automatic cooling fan to maintain airflow at low speeds. Cooler engine temperatures allow tighter internal tolerances for quieter operation and longer engine life. the perfect cooling for the long treks through Australia.
A large ø300 mm front disc and ø240 rear disc with dual-piston calipers at both ends delivers excellent stopping power. ABS offers increased rider reassurance.
The alternator onboard the KLR650 has an output of 26 amps, with a total capacity of 80 watts available to power accessories such as heated grips, fog lamps, GPS, or mobile phones.
