Combine the fun of a modern, high-performance sport bike with classic Suzuki styling. The new GSX-8TT is leading the revival of naked street bikes, crafted with the long-standing quality and innovative technologies synonymous with Suzuki Motorcycles.
Suzuki sought to design a slim, compact powerplant to expand the possibilities for design flexibility and help realise the most effective chassis geometry for performance, including the optimal riding position. Additionally, Suzuki sought to deliver an engine that would excel in both solo and passenger riding, with plenty of torque and power. The new 776cc parallel-twin engine achieves this in spades.
It features a relatively long-stroke configuration compared to other Suzuki street models, and delivers smooth, controllable power from low RPM and a free-revving feel through to the high end.
Suzuki’s electronic throttle control system uses the ECM to control the action of the throttle valves and make it possible for adjustments that more finely control the relationship between throttle action and engine output characteristics. One benefit is that individual settings can be tuned and tested to match each of the SDMS modes resulting in throttle action that responds accurately to the rider’s intention at each mode setting.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) fully leverages the electronic throttle control system to offer a choice between three modes that deliver different power characteristics — especially when turning the throttle grip between a slightly open position to when it reaches the top of the mid-speed range under acceleration — to match the conditions of the riding scene, surface conditions, or preferred riding style for any given outing.
The settings for each mode have been custom-tuned and thoroughly tested to maximize the GSX-8TT’s capabilities, to build in the flexibility to adapt well to changing weather, road, and riding conditions, and to make the overall riding experience more enjoyable.
The Suzuki Traction Control System for the GSX-8TT enables the rider to better control the bike in diverse and varying conditions, whether riding alone or with a passenger, or riding in inclement weather. The rider can select from 3 modes or turn the system off. The higher number the mode, the faster the control takes effect and the more proactive the system is in limiting wheel spin.
Mode 1: For sport riding with minimal intervention from the system.
Mode 2: Offers a balance that is ideal for city riding and regular road conditions everyday riding.
Mode 3: Well suited to wet or otherwise slippery road conditions.
Provides the ability to shift gears up or down quickly without the need to operate the clutch or throttle. This feature is switchable so the rider can opt to turn the quick shifter off at their discretion.
This System helps reduce the chances of an unexpected engine stall by automatically raising the idle speed when releasing the clutch or when riding at low RPM’s, assisting frequent clutch work in congested traffic and preventing sudden and unexpected engine stalling when operating in a low RPM range.
This system lets the rider start the motorcycle with one quick press of the starter button. There is no need to pull in the clutch lever when the transmission is in neutral, and the starter motor automatically disengages the instant the engine fires up.
The antilock braking system (ABS) contributes to more stable braking by helping prevent the wheels from locking up, even under hard braking. The system is programmed to monitor wheel speed and match stopping power to the available traction. The ABS control unit features a compact, lightweight design that contributes to making the bike nimbler.
Displays a wide range of information clearly and legibly, allowing the rider to monitor motorcycle systems and settings. It also provides real-time operating status information. The tachometer can be programmed to function as an engine speed indicator, flashing when engine RPM reaches a preset value. This value can be set in 250 rpm increments between 4,000 and 9,750 rpm.
The GSX-8TT comes standard with a USB Type-C socket, designed with a sleek, integrated look that blends seamlessly with the bike’s styling while prioritizing both aesthetics and ease of use. It also supports fast charging.
The GSX-8TT’s headlight cowl features a unique design not directly based on any specific past model. While some may be reminded of the GS1000 AMA race motorcycle, its inspiration comes more broadly from the cowl-equipped motorcycles of the 1970s and 1980s. To emphasize Suzuki’s heritage, it incorporates the flat-bottom headlight also seen on the GSX-8T, a nod to Suzuki models from the 1960s and 1970s. Despite its compact size, the cowl is carefully engineered with strategically placed pressure-relief openings and an outward-curved screen edge to enhance airflow. These features contribute to excellent wind protection at high speeds while reducing wind pressure, embodying a sense of functional beauty.
The under cowl is also exclusively designed for the GSX-8TT. Its form is carefully balanced with the headlight cowl, fuel tank, and radiator shrouds, and flows seamlessly into the short muffler. This cohesive styling further emphasizes the GSX-8TT’s sporty image.
