The new Ninja 1100SX offers the ultimate in sport touring ability. Created to deliver high performance, advanced technology, and superb comfort for sports riding and all-day touring, the Ninja 1100SX sets a new standard for sport touring performance.
Based on the Ninja 1000SX’s proven and well-liked engine, the Ninja 1100SX’s engine displaces 1,099 cc and delivers 113Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four engine now pulls even more strongly in the low-to-mid rpm range—which riders will notice immediately and use often—while the high rpm performance remains robust to deliver all-around improved engine power feel and response.
Supersport-style full-fairing bodywork gives the Ninja 1100SX a distinct, head-turning look. The sleek styling also offers a good measure of wind protection, facilitating short touring runs. Wind protection afforded by the full-fairing bodywork is complemented by a windshield with four available positions. Conveniently, the windshield is adjustable by hand (without tools). Finishing the updated look is a full LED light setup.
The Ninja 1100SX’s highly rigid aluminium frame offers a high degree of mass centralisation, offering a balance of agility and firm handling. The bike responds quickly to rider input, while offering an excellent ability to soak up bumps and ruts. Highly composed, the Ninja 1100SX’s superb straight-line stability and its planted feeling in corners make it easy to spend long hours in the saddle.
Offering both control and comfort, the Ninja 1100SX’s relaxed riding position was designed to accommodate everything from city riding to touring to sport riding. This blend of comfort and control allows the rider to enjoy a variety of riding situations. Weight added to the insides of the handlebars complemented by heavier bar ends help reduce vibration for a more comfortable ride.
The Ninja 1100SX features host of rider support technology dedicated to helping riders enjoy their machine’s sport riding performance to the fullest. Complementing an IMU-enhanced electronics package, the Ninja 1100SX is equipped with integrated Riding Modes, and 4.3” all-digital TFT colour instrumentation with smartphone connectivity. Details for all the rider aids are detailed in the following specs.
The compact 4.3” all-digital TFT (thin-film transistor) colour instrumentation gives the cockpit a high-tech appearance. The screen’s background colour is selectable (black or white), and screen brightness adjusts automatically to suit available light.
Using the latest evolution of Kawasaki’s advanced modelling software and feedback from a compact IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again.
Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or enabling riders to negotiate low-traction surfaces with confidence.
Kawasaki’s supersport-grade brake management system uses high-precision control to regulate brake pressure during sporty riding. KIBS also incorporates corner braking management, modulating brake force to assist riders in holding their intended line through the corner.
The dual-direction Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) is now even easier and more fun to use, offering smoother shifting when accelerating and decelerating. It now functions from a lower minimum rpm, facilitating slower-speed gear shifts, and improving ride feel when riding at a more relaxed pace.
Integrated riding modes link Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC) and Power Modes to offer varying traction control and power delivery settings to suit different riding conditions. Sport mode enables sporty riding for winding roads. Road mode offers comfortable riding over a wide range of conditions. Rain mode delivers reassurance over wet surfaces. Rider (manual) mode lets you set each system independently.
Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP,” a number of instrument functions can be accessed, contributing to an enhanced motorcycling experience. The new version of the smartphone app now offers the ability for riders to control the app with voice commands*, which allows them adjust motorcycle settings, set GPS routes and more orally.
*RIDEOLOGY THE APP is not intended for use during vehicle operation. Only use RIDEOLOGY THE APP when the vehicle is not being operated and it is safe to do so. Voice Command and Navigation functions will be available only to users who have a licence. Although generally a paid service, a one-year free licence will be granted to purchasers of certain models. Licences will be sold for a fee after the second year, or to users who do not possess a free licence at the time of vehicle purchase.
A Special Edition Ninja 1100SX model offers original colourways along with other exclusive features such as Premium Brembo Front Brakes, an Öhlins S46 rear shock with remote adjustment, and a set of heated grips fitted as standard.
