Suzuki GSX-S1000TRQM3 GT

More than an evolution of the prior generation GSX-S1000F, the GSX-S1000GT fulfils the transformation in what performance-minded touring enthusiasts desire, whether heading out on a long trip with a pillion, or enjoying a sporty solo mission on your favourite twisty road.

The GSX-S1000GT’s performance is a revelation, its appearance breathtaking, and the new Suzuki mySPIN connectivity application integrated into the full-colour TFT instrument panel provides easy access to contacts, maps, music, and phone communication.

Engine

The high-performance 999cm3 four-stroke DOHC liquid-cooled inline-four engine that powers the GSX-S1000GT inherits true winning super bike DNA. This street-tuned engine is based on core architecture that benefits from know-how acquired over decades of developing the GSX-R1000 to win countless production race victories, while also incorporating advanced technologies developed for MotoGP racing.

Maximum power – 112kW (152PS) / 11,000rpm
Acceleration – (0-200m) – 10.15 Seconds

The new version delivers superbike-level performance while minimising vibration to make riding more exciting, more comfortable, and less tiring, whether travelling long distances on the highway or enjoying a ride around town. Its broad, smooth torque curve featuring greater cumulative torque production consistently delivers abundant power throughout the engine’s operating range and makes this grand tourer equally adept at street riding as it is at high-speed long-distance touring, even under load when carrying gear and a passenger on the back.

6.5″ Full-Colour TFT Display

Developed specifically as a large multi-information display for use on motorcycles, the GT’s new-generation TFT LCD panel features an anti-reflective coating for improved visibility in bright light and a scratch resistance surface. Smartphone connectivity that allows access to a variety of apps and functions that bring greater convenience, functionality and fun to the ride. In addition to DAY and NIGHT display schemes and adjustable brightness, the screen’s custom display features buttery-smooth tachometer movement and exclusive graphics.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)

Mode A (Active) provides the sharpest response as the rider opens the throttle. Settings for torque characteristics are finely tuned to deliver the exciting acceleration that had earned the previous generation GSX-S1000 high acclaim. It is well suited for use when hitting the throttle hard, such as when participating in track day events or enjoying a sporty run on winding roads in good weather.

Mode B (Basic) reaches the same level of maximum output, but features softer response and a more linear power delivery curve as the rider opens the throttle. The settings are tuned to make the bike more controllable and instill confidence when accelerating, and to make it a good fit for a wide range of rider styles and road conditions in everyday riding.

Mode C (Comfort) provides the softest throttle response and more gentle torque characteristics, delivering power in smoother linear fashion while still reaching the same level of maximum power output. The gentler throttle response and limited torque production as the throttle is opened makes more obedient and controllable when riding on wet or otherwise slippery surfaces, when road conditions are bad, or even when the rider wants to relax and enjoy a ride home after a long outing.

Chassis Engerneered For Distance

The twin-spar aluminium frame on the new GT is built to deliver nimble handling and great road holding ability that will go the distance, even when carrying a passenger and full loaded with gear. When viewed from the side, the main tubes run straight from the steering head to the swingarm pivot. This design helps achieve high rigidity and lighter weight than competitor models.

Newly designed subframe rails serve two benefits. Firstly, they provide more rigid and secure attachment points for the optional side cases. Secondly, the new design lowers the height of the seat rails, making it possible to increase the thickness of the pillion seat for greater passenger comfort.

The sturdy aluminium swingarm comes straight from the GSX-R1000. Ruggedly braced and with the appeal of its superbike looks, this swingarm features great road holding ability and the strength to withstand long rides, heavy loads, and the demands of sporty runs.

Superior Braking

The GT is equipped with top-of-the-line radial-mount Brembo monobloc calipers. The calipers each have four opposed ø32mm pistons acting on a ø310mm floating-mount disc for strong stopping power.

An antilock braking system (ABS) helps the rider stay in directional control even during hard braking. The system is programmed to monitor wheel speed and match stopping power to the available traction. The ABS control unit has a compact, lightweight design that contributes to the bike’s nimbleness.

Tuned Suspension And Tires

The ø43mm KYB inverted front forks feature 120mm of travel with fully adjustable damping, rebound, compression and spring pre-load settings.

The link-type rear suspension boasts 130mm of rear wheel travel with adjustable rebound damping and spring pre-load settings that react efficiently to varying road surfaces to maintain an agile and stable feel.

The suspension settings were thoroughly tested and tuned to optimise to suit the new Dunlop SPORTMAX 2 tyres achieving nimbler handling and improved steering into corners.

Vibration Absorbing Footrests

The aluminium pegs of both the rider and passenger footrests are covered with vibration-absorbing rubber.

This reduces the amount of vibration transmitted to the feet, which in turn lessens fatigue, especially on long rides.

Additionally, the footrests are positioned lower so they require less bending of the knees and ankles and thereby help provide greater comfort.

Large 19L Fuel Tank

The new fuel tank increases capacity to 19L, all without appearing larger. Its large capacity combines with the engine’s excellent fuel efficiency to bring the rider greater peace of mind by blessing the GT with superior touring range per tank of fuel.

Bi - Directional Quick Shift System

Lets you shift up or down more quickly and easily without the need to operate the clutch or throttle. When decelerating, the system automatically opens the throttle valves just enough to increase rpm and match engine speed to the next-lower gear ratio. The result of this hands-free automatic blipping function combines seamlessly with engine braking to create a highly satisfying experience when downshifting.

Cruise Control

Allows the rider to maintain a set speed without operating the throttle helping reduce fatigue when touring long distances, particularly when travelling at constant speed on highways. Cruise Control can be set at speeds between 30km/h to 180km/h when riding in 2nd gear or higher. The speed can be easily adjusted upward or downward using the (plus or minus) select switch on the left handlebar.

Ride by Wire Electronic Throttle System

The system’s finer control also allows it to be tuned to best match each of the SDMS modes. The overall result is linear power delivery that responds faithfully to your intentions, whether riding on the street or heading out to enjoy a sporty run, as well as improved controllability when opening the throttle while cornering.
